9 February 2026 | Melbourne, Australia – Australia’s Alliance Airlines is celebrating the 60th anniversary of one of sport’s greatest achievements.
Australia’s leading air charter services operator has painted one of its newest Embraer aircraft in the same colour scheme as the famous Repco-Brabham BT19 Formula 1® racer, the legendary car that took Australian F1® ace Jack Brabham to his third Formula 1® Drivers’ World Championship and his first Formula 1® Constructors’ World Championship in 1966.
This remains the only time a driver has secured the F1® championship in a car of their own make and run by their own team.
Alliance Airlines’ green-and-gold Embraer E190-100 has attracted international and local attention since arriving in Australia at the end of last year.
“This aircraft signifies the magnitude of the achievements of Sir Jack Brabham, Ron Tauranac and the Repco-Brabham BT19 in 1966,” said Stewart Tully, Managing Director at Alliance Airlines.
“Alliance Airlines has a proud history of paying tribute to innovation and excellence through its special liveries. This latest design is in keeping with that legacy and pays tribute to an Australian icon whose passion forever changed his field.”
David Brabham, MD Brabham Group Limited and son of Sir Jack Brabham: “This is a wonderful and very meaningful tribute to one of the great moments in Australian sport. The Repco-Brabham BT19 that propelled Jack to that historic title is clearly featured on the aircraft, making this tribute even more special. It brings to life this remarkable story in a very visible and powerful way. The Brabham family thanks Alliance for honoring this legacy.”
Wayne Bryant, Chief Merchandise and Growth Officer, Repco Australia: “Alliance Airlines’ special Repco-Brabham tribute airliner celebrates one of Australia’s greatest success stories. Our team is proud that Repco created the BT19’s V8 Formula 1® engine. It remains a source of inspiration for our company and reminds us that the greatest achievements are always possible.”
Celebrating an Australian success story
60 years ago, Sir Jack Brabham, car designer Ron Tauranac, their Brabham Formula 1® team and Repco-Brabham engines thrust Australia to the top of international motorsport and showed the world the best of Australia’s capabilities.
The Repco-Brabham BT19 Formula 1® car, owned by Repco’s parent company in Australia, is regarded as one of motor racing’s most important creations.
Having recently starred at the F1 Exhibition in Melbourne, Repco has planned a number of special events during 2026 to publicly celebrate Sir Jack Brabham’s 1966 achievements with this groundbreaking racing car.
Alliance Airlines’ special tribute aircraft, registration VH-A2N, will enter service this year and fly between various cities throughout Australia.
About Jack Brabham:
Sir Jack Brabham AO OBE was the first Australian to win the Formula 1® Drivers’ World Championship. He won it three times: in 1959, 1960 and 1966. He also won 14 Formula 1® Grand Prix races, making him the most successful Australian Formula 1® driver. His 23-year professional racing career was characterised by record-setting success as an intensely competitive driver and ingenious constructor alongside famed Australian racing car designer Ron Tauranac. Sir Jack Brabham was also a keen aviation enthusiast and fixed-wing pilot.
About the Repco-Brabham BT19:
The Repco Brabham BT19 was designed by Australian engineer Ron Tauranac. The car was built by Motor Racing Developments (MRD), Jack Brabham and Ron Tauranac’s own company, and raced by their Brabham Racing Organisation.
The car was powered by the Repco RB620 3.0-litre SOHC V8 engine, which was designed, developed and produced by Repco in Melbourne, Australia.
When the 1966 Italian Grand Prix concluded at the famous Monza racing circuit on Sunday 4 September 1966, Jack Brabham had amassed enough points to secure his third and final Formula 1® Drivers’ World Championship. That year, his team won their first of two Formula 1® Constructors’ World Championships, the other secured in 1967.
Only one Repco Brabham BT19 was produced, and it raced in the 1966 and 1967 Formula 1® championship seasons.
